Re: Unlimited class next year- what are my opions since I'm

Mr. FS, you are The Man. I would prefer the lattice strip to get the full 1/4" height since I depend on it. I think 1/4" x 1 1/2" is a standard size which would save the cost and work cutting it down if that would be acceptable to the rocket cars. It would be more exciting to spectato...

Re: Unlimited class next year- what are my opions since I'm

Hello, Everyone. I'd like folks thoughts. Let me start off by saying, "I'm not so sure I cannot beat a Rocket car." That being said, here's why. There's no way a Rocket car could beat a slot car and I can't either. I'm going to guess most folks think it's the speed. Speed is not the proble...

Re: Unlimited class next year- what are my opions since I'm

Cubmasterbob, you build the chassis. It consists of 4 pieces. There are 2 pieces of 1/4" brass tubing and 2 slot car motor mounts that also hold the axles. That's the chassis. You make the length to fit the wheel openings on whatever body you are going to attach to it. The body is for looks. Yo...

Re: Unlimited class next year- what are my opions since I'm

Beware of the width. You don't have much room before you interfere with the car next to you. I use Channel 5 - Green, in McDonalds and I can't get it out without tearing the car apart. Perhaps you could choose another channel. I sense a trip to Illinois in my future. Ha, Ha. Good Luck. Cheers Speeds...

Re: Unlimited class next year- what are my opions since I'm

I can't make out the name on the motor but they're all fast. Winning usually depends on reaction time when you're racing another one of these. The car covers the track in about a second. Overall length of tubing is 4 3/4", notched in about 1/2" from the end to bolt motor mounts. Motor moun...

Re: Unlimited class next year- what are my opions since I'm

If you have a Mini-T with a modified motor, You Are There. Those are the expensive parts. You won't lose the car. The electronics are all held on the chassis and roof of the Dodge with double face tape. When your derby is over simply take the electronics out of the drag car and put them in your Mini...

Re: Unlimited class next year- what are my opions since I'm

The RC parts which are the radio, speed control, modified motor, 7.2 volt Nickel Metal Hydride battery are from a modified Losi Mini-T RC car. The chassis was built from square brass tubing to fit the Revell Funny Car Body. Front wheels were Awana on McD's and BSA on the blue car. Slot car parts wer...

Re: Unlimited class next year- what are my opions since I'm

cubmasterbob, Nothing can beat the McDonalds car in the picture, certainly no fan powered vehicle. It is basically a Radio Controlled slot car. I've raced numerous fans, including my own. McDonalds will cross the finish line as the fans are reaching the horizontal run. The longer your track the more...

Re: Adding a Friction Brake to an Old Track

I have seen this type of stop and I have been the victim of one. The cars shoot 2 feet up the hill, smash into the end, fall to the ground, break a wheel, and you're out of the race. A lot of hard work down the drain because of a lousy braking area.

Re: 2009 to present

WI _Dad Beautiful cars !! I notice this year and last year you used the long end for the front. Good decision. Another thing you can do is cut off the back of the car behind the rear wheels and move it to the front. This will give you an advantage regarding the "Front End Extension" effect...

Re: wood track resurface

cubmasterbob, This would be my suggestion. Remove the guide strips and wipe the track a couple of times using an automotive pre-cleaner. Water sand the track smooth using 800 grit paper and a sanding block. The most important part is where the cars travel. You do not need constant running water. Fil...

Re: Any Civil War buffs on DT?

Make the car as wide as you legally can. Separate the car in half, top and bottom. Paint "Pickett's Charge" as if viewed from 500 feet in the air. Carve the terrain in the car.
I'll bet you can do it.

Re: Inserting axels

Our axle slots and axles must be clearly visible so we don't have much room to use glue. I use drathbun's technique. I cut a hole through a piece of wood to protect the wheel and also use the axle insertion tool. I remove the gauge on the side of the tool and clamp the tool to the car. I do not remo...

Re: Importance of balance point

Ballboy, you're teasing me like I do the young scouts. The car was made from a BSA kit. I built the car, cut it to get a wrecked shape, and glued it back together. I then final shaped it using auto body filler (Bondo). I refinished it with automotive Basecoat/Clearcoat paint so it would have a shiny...
