Re: Strange derby this year!
PeterT, you make me smile. I Love the guy with the solid axles. He obviously wasn't trying to cheat. There has got to be a great story behind why he used solid axles. Did he have a story?

Re: Registration tonight - suspect car / notched raised whee
PeterT, you and your team are very kind. What's Done is Done. Could you and your team have supplied the racer a square, hacksaw and one new wheel?

Re: Revell wheels/axles
This is what I do. I buy 4 tubes of wheels Made in USA. That gives me 20 wheels to find the 3 best. I buy one tube of wheels and axles Made in China and throw the wheels away. I know of no vendor or league racer that uses wheels Made in China. There is a small ring around the axle near the head. I r...

Re: wheel polishing technique
DON'T DO IT !!!!! Sorry. I panicked. Most of the friction is in the wheel bore and you want the bore to be as perfect as you can get it. The hubs can easily be polished another way. There is a video by "[no advertising for this vendor]" on wheel polishing I think you would enjoy. Heart rat...

Re: Car design differences for 49' Best Track
Do you have a picture of last years car? Are you rail riding? What is your COG? What do you use for weight? Are you cutting slots or drilling holes? Degree of Negative Cant on rear axles? Degree of Positive Cant on DFW? How much Drift in 4' ? How do you prepare the wheel bore? Do you shave the wheel...

Re: Fenders-Are they legal?
I do agree that was the original intent of the rule. However, the rule is very clear. I have written to the District Executive and whatever he says I will follow.

Re: Where to drill holes with silver bullet
rkibby, I think most set there DFW around 1 1/2 degrees Positive cant which may, or may not, lift the non DFW off the track. If setting the DFW with that much Negative cant, wouldn't that lower the car allowing the non DFW to touch?

Re: Fenders-Are they legal?
If you have the 3/8" clearance rule and someone is skilled enough to make the High-Tech fenders increase speed, are you not being unfair to the others who are following the rules? I suspect the League racers install fenders for additional speed. Our rule on "Details" clearly states an...

Fenders-Are they legal?
If rules state there must be 3/8" clearance between bottom of car and the track, does this not make fenders illegal? Also, it has been pointed out screwing the zinc plate, or tungsten plates, to the bottom of the car actually gives an advantage over those following the rules because the weight ...

Re: Has anyone ever done a 7 ounce car? (Relaxed Rules)
Grooved axles do not reduce friction. The friction is simply moved to a smaller area. A grooved axle may give an advantage in some other way, such as to remove a particular undesirable portion. I set up a Fun Track at our District Race many years ago. As a joke, I inserted two 3/8" lead rods th...

Re: Has anyone ever done a 7 ounce car? (Relaxed Rules)
I suspect you already have a very fast 5 oz. wafer car. Here's a fairly easy way to see how much more speed you can get out of it. If you have access to a track and timer, purchase a 2 oz.tungsten block, tape it to the car in different areas, and see how fast you can make it go. The Laws of Physics,...
