Question about The Judge Cable
I can't find specifications on the website, so I thought I would ask here. The cable that connects the Judge Timer to the start gate latch appears to be a telephone cord, but an RJ11 connector is too fat to fit. Does anybody know what kind of cable it requires? Is it RJ9? New Directions really ought...

Re: Badder Ladder - Realized
Lookin' good! That's a lot of tricky cutting for your ladder car...way more than I've got the patience for, haha!
I hate having the play the Game of Life, but I love your wife's car.
Also the Pokemon Paint job is super cool.

I do love watching a Whoda build happen. It's like seeing the work of a fine surgeon.

A 3D printed Drill Guide...worthy idea or not?
So one thing that has always been sort of near to my heart in regard to Pinewood Derby stuff is not wanting to see the people that have lots of money to spend have a huge advantage over those who mainly put in time, effort and brains. Hence why I a hate the idea of people buying premade cars to race...

It's still way cheaper than slot racing, RC or soap box!

Re: Maximum Velocity Wheels with bent Axles
I've bent axles at like, 7 degrees with Max-V axles (I like a sick amount of bend on the DFW). Yes, you have to kind of *snap* them into the bores, but it doesn't hurt them if you don't do it repeatedly.

Re: So I sprayed my axels with duport chain saver...
My advice: Ditch the chain-saver and get some Heavy Duty Max-Pro Silicone Spray or 3M Dry-Type Silicone.
If you're insistent on the chain-saver, spray your axles, let the stuff set a bit, then wipe 'em off so you're left with just a thin waxy film.

Re: Polishing AWANA axles
For Awana axles, we start with 1000 grit, 10 seconds, then 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000. Wipe clean between each grit. Finish with some Brasso or Mother's Mag polish on a strip of cloth or leather.

Re: Roadway Racers axles
Yep, you are correct. They would not be legal when the rules say you must use BSA stuff if you're racing scouts. Where do you buy Awana axles? The only ones I can find are from Maximum Velocity, 4 for $8,95. You can order them directly from the Awana store. Obviously there's shipping, so it might m...

Re: Roadway Racers axles
I mean, unless they've got the BSA stamp on them, you can't legally use them in races that call for BSA-only stuff, right?
My favorite cheap non-BSA axles still remain the ones by Awana. So straight and smooth and thick! They're great, and like two bucks for a set of ten, I think.

Re: How to oil axels
I put a tiny drop (ballpoint pen ball is about right) and roll it around the axle making sure to get the shaft and under the head, and then I use a small strip of clean white paper (making sure there aren't loose fibers on the end) to wick up any remaining blobs of oil. Krytox is a thin-film lube. Y...

Re: Oil -Freezing
Definitely use oil. Be sure and coat your bores and axles with a good choice of oil-repellent treatment! ????.like what? If you're using oil, you will get the best success if both your wheel bores and axles are coated with some kind of oil-repelling treatment. Traditionally, different products have...

Re: Rail Riding - "How To Guide"
The DFW should have positive camber, as such, the lower edge of the wheel should be closer to the rail and the upper edge of the wheel further from it. OK, so I have to ask. Front dominant wheel bend DOWN or UP? My boys are 4 years into this and have done really well bending it about 1.5deg UP. I do...

Re: Aggressive COG limits
The track matters too. Not only aluminum vs wood (the smoother the track, the more aggressive your CoG can be), but also the shape of the curve. The curve of a Besttrack is a lot more brutal than that of a Microwizard. A lot of cars come out of the transition with some serious waggles on the former...
