Re: The nut job !
Heh, I have to identify with the title of this thread for sure ;) I know other parents in the Pack think I am a bit of a nut job, but I campaigned for years to get rid of the awful double-elimination racing that left more boys crying than having a good time. So even though those parents think I am n...

Re: 2009 Mystery Machine
Cool!
When my older son had his first Derby he wanted the Mystery Machine, but it didn't come out as nice as yours.
That was the first time I experienced the true drying time of model car enamel. We built it 8 years ago, I think some of the paint is still soft...

I really respect and admire anyone who can pull off fenders, I just can't seem to get the hang of it. I hope she runs well for you

Re: Council win !!! 2009
Congratulations! Totally cool car design too! We don't have a Council race here, just Districts. I mentioned to our District Exec about running a Council race, he said he would talk to the other District Execs about it. Too late for us, but for years we didn't even have District races. The first one...

Re: My Last Car...Maybe
Thank you Brad, I really appreciate it! I love your sports cars, they are super models that remind me of my slot car racing days in the '70's :) I will check out the Fujimi drivers, one of those would have been perfect for the Watson. I dedicated the car to my late father, he turned me on to racing ...

My Last Car...Maybe
After 8 years of Pinewood Derby, this may be my last. My younger son crosses over to the Troop this year to join his older brother. We have had a lot of fun with the Derby over the years, and it allowed me to rediscover how much I enjoyed building models when I was a kid. The first year we ran, I di...

Re: Derby becomes an addiction - fun had by all!
Awesome, absolutely awesome! I totally agree that it is an "addiction" of sorts. For me, it is classic Indy and Formula 1 cars. This year's car took me at least 50 hours of work for the 1963 Indy winner. Unfortunately, this is our last year, my younger son crosses over to Boy Scouts next m...
