Re: How many is too many?
One week to go. I think I will have 4 really good cars and 4 decent cars (intentionally mediocre). Im a little behind because I've been helping my den. The goal is for all 12 bears to make the final round. Lots of drilling and cutting have been going on in my workshop this year. I helped 11 of the k...

Re: Adhesive vinyl -for underbody
Not in our experience, but I suspect that it all depends on how your stop section is constructed.

Re: Adhesive vinyl -for underbody
We use clear packing tape (just to cover openings... weights are glued in) or use tail light lense repair tape if we want color.

Re: Ground clearence
You're supposed to relieve the inside edge of each fender to provide more clearance. Also, depending on what type of track you're running on you may only need 1/4" of space.

Re: Going to districts. Need some advice.
A photo or drawing is probably the best way for us to give advice to you. That said, I've seen a few cars where there wasn't enough wood that could be cut away and stuffed with weight to get the car up to 5 ounces... The owners sometimes added additional weight (plates) under the car and sometimes g...

5 minute epoxy
Yes you can refill and redrill.
For mis-drilled holes in wood we glue a round toothpick in and then re-drill.

Re: Dawes Family Cars for 2014... Pack Races... on to Distri
Greg, so far in my limited experience Legends and Red Rocket are better than Tech Wax 2.0. We ran our best car last year with Legends and were seeing times as low as 2.95X but could only get times in the 2.969 range with the same car/wheels/axels re-preped using Tech Wax. Without any wax (graphite o...

If you look closely there's a bottle of McGuire 's tech wax in one photo. Also see red rocket and spacewalk (legends).
Pledge or Jig-a-loo contain silicone which helps with more speed. Axels are sprayed and allowed to dry then put in lubricated waxed wheels.

Greg, Thank you for a peek behind the curtain at how the magic works. That is a serious PWD car production process you've got set up there. I'm finding that I need to be more organized given the number of cars we're doing this year. Seems like you've got it down. I'm guessing you're doing the pledge...

Just like to see how people approach weighting and how much cars are hollowed out.

Our builds are stalled because of family visitors and super bowl. We'll be in high gear after this weekend.

Re: Wheel Bore Waxes
I asked because there is wide variation in cost of these unidentified waxes. I've already made substantial investments in wheels axles tools graphite tungsten etc. I was just curious if there was something I can get locally in quantities greater than one once and share with others without over paying.
