Re: What do you think ? rules / regs/ building
Back to the safety aspect again, I believe our car was VERY safe. It did not look like the car in the "book", but it's the same basic principle. There should a be picture floating around here somewhere. Anyway, we had a very low CG by mounting the crossmembers above the frame. Our steering...

Re: Drill blanks (axles)???
Pwdarchitect, the part # you gave comes up with buckets, but it was close. The # should be 4345T33 for anyone else looking. I think my problem was that I was only looking for drill/reamer blanks, but I should have expanded my search to tool steel.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Drill blanks (axles)???
I have found drill blanks from a few different companies to fit my wheel bearings (for my outlaw car), but they all seem to be only 2.25" long. Not quite long enough. Does anyone kow who sells longer length blanks for a 3/32" (.0937-8)?

Re: What do you think ? rules / regs/ building
Extra safety gear helps, but the design of the car can also help keep things safe. One simple change to the "normal" design is to mount the frame BELOW the front and rear crossmembers. This keeps the weight low and makes it much harder to roll over the car. I believe it would be pretty nea...
Re: 2007 Cars
Oh, I almost forgot our new secret wheels. We will be using these;
Okay, maybe not...but it would make for some interesting conversation.

Front end design to trip finish sensor
I notice some of the designs that are floating around these pages, and how narrow some of the noses are on these cars. Are any of you having problems tripping the finish line sensor, or delaying the finish time? We built a open class car last year for my then 3 yr old, and myself. It had a triangula...
Re: 2007 Cars
Okay, I know several of us are working on PWD cars, but no one has started or thought about their son's cubmobile car? This year the car is for my soon to be 7 yr old. He likes green, while his older brother likes orange and had a orange car last year. We discussed a paint job that has black, green ...

Re: Open Class ideas????
Thanks Doc,
I know of several vendors that supply small enough bearings. I am more concerned about pressing the bearings, especially bearings that small, and creating more resistance.

Re: How far back on the COG?
We have built cars with very aggressive rear COG and never, ever had a car leave the track. I have read this concern for years on the forum but I have never seen it. Last year at our district race, the car in the next lane to my son's, lifted as it hit the flat section of the track, and jumped onto ...

Re: Open Class ideas????
Those that have used wheel bearings by pressing them on the axle, did you notice any appreciable resistance after pressing them onto the axle? Not quite the same, but I've seen bearings used in larger applications where after they were press fit, the spin time was reduced. I'm just wondering if it w...

Awards
As you may or may not know, last year was our pack's first year to hold a cubmobile race. We awarded the kids for their finish position. We didn't award for looks, or anything else. We may add some more awards this year. How do other packs handle this? Best paint, best of show, etc., and who decides...
2007 Cars
Has anyone started building their 2007 car? Anything different, interesting or new you are doing this year? Pictures? We are currently working on our PWD cars, but we have plans for our cubmobile car. Since I don't need to build ramps this year, we should have more time to build our car. We do need ...

As for tungsten again, anyone know if a waterjet or laser cutter would cut it easy enough?
