Re: Bore prep

"Practice makes perfect" with doing this bore prep method. Measure the diameter of the rod and use the following formula: C = 2 * 3.14 * diameter/2. I know > getting to anal > showing my engineering side. It wasn't easy at first, but I can do it in my sleep now. My Cub did the actual...

Re: Not stopping!

I just ordered the foam for our track. Hopefully, I should have it for the weekend to extend our stop section of our wood Piantedosi! I have to set-up for a Pack race in Chattangooa in a couple of Saturdays. Great advice! ;)

Re: We won, but what's a "good" 30-ft time?

A lot of us wonder if our track times are good. Each track has its own personality that helps/hinders the track times. I keep in mind that my Cub and I are just rookies at this stuff. There are guys on this forum that are very smok'in fast and have been doing this stuff for a long time. And.... each...

Re: Evan's 2010 Pack Winner

Nice clean design! Way to go guys! We run the same essential design on all our cars this year. How did you put the weight in? Got a picture of the underside?
Thanks!

Re: Setup for no center rail

We ran the edge runner in the adult race on the Super Track. The district let me run two cars. The edge runner got smoked by my straight runner. They did not time the race but the straight runner probably pulled two plus car lengths on the edge car. This edge car needs more work. My staight runner h...

Pack Race Times and Outcome: Interesting....

Our pack raced Tuesday night. We are small and had 100% attendance and participation in the race. A special tanks to scout frog for coming and helping us out! Thanks man! :bigups: Check out the times below. We ran on 32 feet (27.7 feet timed) Piantedosi Wood track with six lanes. We ran ea...

Re: Thank You Derby Talk!

Yes, it hit the stop section and broke out the axle. Those stop sections are not the best. That poor Cub was almost in tears. I repaired with a hot glue gun but we lost alignment.

Thank You Derby Talk!

Our pack, my Cub, and I greatly thank you for all your great advice that you offer! :bigups: You guys are all right! This forum is the best place to go for information on derby cars! We had district today. Our pack is small and we were impressive at the race. All the following cars were prepared at ...

Re: Setup for no center rail

The rear end wants to move towards the edge. Hmmm... Looks like it needs more time for work out kinks.... Bummer. We have a couple of straight runners. Next year for the edge runner!

Re: Setup for no center rail

This is the second try at making an edge rider. Our first attempt failed because we did not move the wheel out far enough > Rear wheel was also riding on the edge because of negative camber on rears. We tried to "dog leg" the car via toe-in/toe-out on the rear canted axles but the car woul...

Re: Dad and Cub: The addiction.....

It will be interesting at the pack race because many of the cars that we help build used a lot of the ideas that we used in these cars. The only difference is that the cars were made much faster at the workshops. Wheel and axle preparation are the difference. These areas take more time to get right....

Dad and Cub: The addiction.....

Since last August..... The results. Not many short-cuts making these cars. We used a bunch of your ideas, from DT, to make these cars. Several of these cars will not pass our pack and district rules (too narrow of body at axles) and will be raced on the side for fun with full disclosure. The tightes...
