Re: The BSA nail

Yep, that would be a compound bend. Thanks for the explanation.

Re: The BSA nail

Live and learn.
This is the 1st time I have heard about "compound bends" in the shaft. Would you describe what is meant by that and what advantage it might give?

District Race-Northwest District

The Northwest District of the Erie Council held their District race at Camp Miaconda, Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday, June 20th. This is the only District in the Erie council that requires 4 wheels on the ground. This is not my district but I did work with one scout in the Northwest District to help him ...

Shelly, I apologize for the misspelling of your name. That was definitely all my fault.

Thank you again for the story. It was very interesting.

Re: Weight bias Equation

I'm sorry if I have caused confusion. RRR races AWANA involved in his church. I know of no other AWANA race then the one with his church. He and his racer then joined a league so they could continue to race. I think races are held every month. RRR likes oil. If memory serves me, Eagle likes oil. Is ...

Re: Weight bias Equation

Gentlemen, if I might back up here for a moment. A few years back some of us wanted to race against our good friend "Sporty" who built very fast scout cars with his son and was frequently on Derbytalk with his vast knowledge. We signed up for Adult Racing at the Mid America race and at tha...

Re: Weight bias Equation

My test is to get the results of a car using a .087 dfw nail and the same car using a .093 nail. I already have the car which is Commodore Perry District legal. Lube is Hob-E-Lube graphite. I use the car for demonstration at workshops. The tungsten weights are exposed to show the scouts the differen...

Re: Weight bias Equation

I believe the .093 causes more friction because the wheel cannot straighten out as much. With only .004 total clearance the wheel is immediately steered into the rail and held in that position. The wheel is now skidding down the track at a greater angle then if it were allowed to straighten out more...

Re: Weight bias Equation

I have 3 - Triton T2 scales from Maximum Velocity, $19.95. Calibration weight is extra. I have one calibration weight. These scales are not used in workshops or races. They are strictly for back up. For Workshops and races I prefer the scale from Hodges Hobby house, $29.95. The scale comes with the ...

Re: Weight bias Equation

I have no answer for the question but because of the specs on the car I would like to go Off Topic a bit and ask a couple of questions. 1. Is the 4 3/4" wheelbase because of rules or is it specifically about Physics? If it's about Physics, other then Doc Jobe, who decided this is the best for s...

Re: Those Crazy Lazy Hazy Days of Summer

Mr. Ratrodsrule1, This is the most difficult thread I have ever tried to help with. You commented you are lazy which is perfectly fine. That's your choice. However, you then used the word Rejex. The fact that you even know the word Rejex suggests to me you are not lazy. Putting aside the word lazy I...

Re: 2 - Lane 42' Best Track with Timer For Sale

It is a Micro Wizard timer that shows Elapsed times without a computer so I will assume it is a K-3 timer. Cost new is $375 plus shipping. A 42' , 2 lane Best track, cost $555, $107 shipping for a total of $662. $375.00 plus shipping $662.00 includes shipping -------- $1037.00 The K-3 timer new come...
