Rock on Sporty!

Post by whodathunkit »

Thought I'd see if I could make Sporty Rock on with his new found love for Guitars.

Sporty this is for you man..
I thought I'd show you a new way to re-do the fender guitars I enjoyed making in the Drift Away topic.

And being as how your always saying less wood weight is good.
Hope this will make you Jam Out! ( to the 1/4'' thick design?)

Bass wood bottom and top coming soon!

Are you ready to Rock?

Just the car / guitar body alone is at 12.1 grams.. I did not take a pic of that on the scale.

After seeing LightninBoy's very cool X series cars that he posted to his topic.

In his last car photo:
The car weight seen was at 0.750 oz. In his quest to make his car lighter in weight.
Which was a really neat topic to see how his car design was changed up.

Now I know that some of the rules he races under: that the 2 gram wheels are allowed.
LightninBoy, I do like your cars! ;)

So I thought it would be neat to see where I would be at..
With my quest in finding a way to lose a little more weight off the fender guitar car design.

If I too were useing 2 gram wheels and racing under the rules where 2 gram wheels were allowed.

Sporty,

Maybe you'll like my 2nd design even better?
It's a little bit thicker at this point and hasen't been sanded down to a 1/4'' thick.
Here is a better side view for you.
Image

Heres a top view it's all pinewood with no balsa.

And a view with the basswood bottom - or top.

Hope I'v got you Rock'n out!

Even though I know LightninBoy's cars are using fenders..
Un-like the fender guitar car design where it's not using what you would call car fenders.

I like the first one, unless you using balsa to fill in the neck area. Then I'm dead split.

Fenders are fenders. They were put on cars and motorcycles. To help reduce rain, dirt, mud, splatter.

Ok, Sporty.. just for you I will fill in the neck & head stock area in with balsa.
And we'll see where the weight is with the basswood bottom or top glued on as well.

Just a tuch lighter in weight but not by much..

LightninBoy,
If your looking over the topic.. thanks for shareing your cars and the things you have done to make them lighter in weight..
If anything it has pushed me to find ways to make the fender guitar design lighter in weight as well.

Your Welcome Sporty!

Hope the saw blades for the dremel tool will help you out with the balsa fill cars you make.

Feel free to play around with the guitar car pattern & template Sporty..
I would enjoy seeing you work the Pattern into one of your upside down left handed Guitars.

Vitamin K, I did share this link with Sporty as well !
For saw blades for the dremel tools and I do hope he will look into getting the cutting shield attachment for it as well!
