Post by gpraceman »

Member ranks have been implemented as a way of indicating how much a member participates in this board.

These are the current ranks and the number of postings to earn each rank.

Image Spectator - 0

Image Apprentice - 1

Image Journeyman - 25

Image Pinehead - 50

Image Master Pinehead - 100

Image Site Admin or Moderator - N/A

Note: The number of postings for each rank may change over time based on the useage of the board.

So, I missed updating this thread when I decided to change it from "Wise Old Derby Sage" to "Official Pinehead" (not Pinhead  )

And shouldn't there be an Unofficial "Pinehead" rank as well? ;-)

I though about making it "Certified Pinehead" or maybe even "Master Pinehead". What name would most represent the ultimate in being a Pinehead? What do you all think?

I thought the Wise Old Derby Sage was pretty cool as well.

gpraceman,
Why is there a rank of Spectator since the only time you see the name is when you make a post? Doesn't that make everyone you see a Derby Apprentice?

The term is apt since there are many people that are just browsing the board. When they get out of the stands and into the game then they start earning the real ranks.

Well, "Master Pinehead" would match the "Master Expert" class used in gimmick car rallyes (my other car-related hobby). There, we use:
  • First-Timer
  • Beginner
  • Novice
  • Senior
  • Expert
  • Master Expert
So maybe the Derby Talk board could use something like
  • Spectator
  • Apprentice
  • Journeyman
  • Pinehead
  • Master Pinehead

That sounds good, so we will try that for awhile.

Come on, guys ... I haven't won a race in years! (at least, none that I can talk about)
