Car Saver

Post by Stephen's Dad »

Consider this my copyright claim if no one has built & marketed this previously.

Has anyone contemplated or built a hinged affair with a wedge shaped piece of foam that would sandwich between the track end & the hinged cover? Maybe a simple magnetic switch could be employed to "lock-out" the start gate to prevent starts without the car saver. Or maybe the car saver would be spring or gravity biased so it can't be left open under any circumstance.

To release the cars after a race will require lifting a handle. Spring or gravity pressure will return the Car Saver back to the lowered position after retrieval.

The foam would be replaceable & perhaps Velcroed into place.

Other ideas?

Some track's use a 'garage' made of foam, but I don't know of one with a hinged top.

The main issue with this type of stopping device is that it tends to damage/remove decorative items mounted on top of the car (wings, engines drivers, etc). To minimize damage to the car, it is best to stop the car from underneath (raised guide strip), or in front (balistic stoppers).

We find that many decorative items break non decorated cars after they are launched by inferior stopping devices.
