ppn generator software

Post by Scubersteve »

I was hoping to use Stan's ppn chart generator for my church's upcoming awana grand prix. The problem however is that I won't have internet access at the church so I can't generate charts on the spot and I won't know how many racers we have until after check in so I can't generate the charts earlier either. Is there a freeware ppn generator I can download to my computer so I can create the charts on site? I really don't want to create and print charts for 10 to 30 racers before and bring all that paper with me, with my luck we would have 33 show up.

Would Cory Young's Excel spreadsheet that incorporates PPN scheduling suffice?

yes, thank you. I think that will be great. Someone should add that to the "links" list.

You could always copy the web page to your computer and launch it from there. Then you would not need an Internet connection.

I tried that, it didn't seem to work... I think the excel program will be fine. I had wanted to buy GPRM, but don't have the time to get everything set up with the timer and the adapter cable etc. and work out all the bugs. Maybe next year...

At least we can move away from double elimination now.

It's there - way down the page under Racing Method Analysis Software.

I haven't tested it that way ... some of the functionality may not fly since it uses generated html pages very heavily ... in one mode the generated html pages themselves generate html pages! And some may include javascript files not included in the main page.

Down in the left corner of the page, there is mention of a downloadable zipped folder that has "the whole shebang".

I'd recommend Cory's Excel Spreadsheet, though. If you don't have the purchased Excel Spreadsheet product (some of us don't), MSoft does provide a free run-time package that allows you to "play" other folks spreadsheets.

Any way you go, be sure to test it thoroughly with internet access disconnected before race day!

ohhh! I think it was the "analysis" part that threw me. I was looking for "chart generator" or something like that.

Can it be found anywhere else?

Try downloading Stan's zip file. http://members.aol.com/standcmr/ppn.zip Unzip it to a folder and double click the ppngen.htm file inside.

Is that Stan's chart generator or cory's excel spreadsheet?
When I click on that link it wants me to log in to something too...
