BSA Carriers

Post by drnesting »

We held our first pack Space Derby last night and in general it was good. Thanks to all the suggestions found here. The use of the Spectra line was fantastic.

We had a problem that I have not seen discussed elsewhere - so I don't know if there is just something we weren't doing... The Plastic carriers that clip on the line would not hold the rockets. Specifically the lower 'jaw' that holds the rockets hanger would be pried open while the rocket was on the starting gate, where the torque from the propeller would pop this open. This was enormously frustrating. We finally used some superglue and that dissolved the little pins so they basically disintegrated.

I appreciate others thoughts - do you glue the little 'clam shell' to the carrier so it is locked in? and if so, using what glue? Or do people make something different that is sturdier but still light. Or maybe like so many things the latest hangers are now chinese and so the material is not built that well?

I put a short sheet metal screw through each one after gluing. Problem solved.
