I know...a little high tech because of the style of the race, but with about 150 boys racing, we are looking for a more reliable and easily used system. Has anyone ever heard or seen an electronic system for raingutter?

The job I did was one of a kind. The electronics were installed in a small box. The sensor and receiver pairs were looking over the top of the gutters at eachother. The boats' sails eclipsed the infrared light beams, and a LED at the end of the gutter showed the results to the audience. Simulataneously, a message was sent to a computer and the results were displayed in Hyperterminal, but you could also use GrandPrix for management. The mounting of the various parts on the gutter was done by double-sided foam tape, which is renewed for each time it was set up.
