just a car i've been working on
I thought i'd share a car body style i've kinda took a liking to and have been working on to show the kids next year.
No guys, i dont race where you've seen these car styles at,
But i have tried racing at WIRL once and i wasn't that far off with my times.
I Like showing the kids some of the design styles they can make with a little help from there Dads, if they take a liking to this design.
Even the kids want to look cool too

What type of automobile can be spelled the same forwards & backwards?
Re: just a car i've been working on
I'm assuming tungsten cubes on both sides of the rear axle?
My wife started a new support group... Widows of the Pinewood Derby.

rpcarpe,
Yeah I like to use Tungsten cubes But sometimes I like to run with lead in front pocket and tungsten in the back pocket to cut cost on useing the tungten cubes so much. The lead i like to use you can order in flat sheets
From McMasters and cut to fit in the weight pockets.

Re: just a car i've been working on
Thank you stang68 & sporty.
Sporty, Sorry to hear the news about your son.
I do hope he is doing well.
I know how it is: I spent the night in the hospital with my Wife.
She had to have an emergecy surgery the night before our race.
The next day she told me to go to the race to be there for the kids.
I didn't want to go but she told me she knew i'd been looking forward
to this all year long and that i should be there.
Now we don't have kids of our own. Our kids are every one else's.
I'm so glad i went to the race as she asked because this very thing happened: I was asked to help 2 boys and their mothers with their cars that wouldn't roll down the track. One boy's car front end was dragging and the next had a back wheel that was glued to the car. I was able to help these two boys and their mothers go on to win their pack champion race. I myself ended up winning the adult outlaw this year and in the end I ended up giving my outlaw trophy away to a kid who didn't win anything at this race. If it's okay I'd like to share photos of these cars on this post.
The frist boys car is 2nd to the right, the black/white car.
The 2nd boys car is the blue rabbit car.
My outlaw car:
At the end of this race, when all the trophies were handed out, these two boys and their mothers come up to thank me and they asked why I had tears in my eyes. I had told them about spending the night with my wife after having surgery and why she had to have it and come to find out that these two boys mothers were adopted and my wife is adopted. My wife's surgery means we'll never have kids of our own the traditional way and It was all I could do to muster up a smile and say today your two boys were mine. This made my experience worth while. It's felt like a fight from day one when I attended this race the first time and had someone knock my cars out of my hand and tell me I should have brought some faster ones. That has fueled my desire ever since then. What a joy to help kids learn the science behind making a fast car. I hope all of them grow up to do the same for their kids.
Here's to many more PWD experiences !!!
