My son's Chicago Cubs Car

Post by Nondo »

This was my first year building a car w/ my son and I've read a lot of threads here that will help me next year. My son came up w/ an idea based on this picture & I did the best I could in a week. It was painted at an Auto Body Shop and after the decals/pinstripes were put on, it got 2 coats of clear. If I knew then what I know now, I would never had used the metal exhaust pipes in the front and put more weight in the back of the car. The center of mass was about the middle of the car.

It came out nice for our first car. I've learned a lot from reading this board and will build a car for speed next year. I bought polished axles(nails) so that's something I want to learn how to do on my own this year.

The front sticker is an ipod sticker, the plastic motor & tank came from a spongebob car , the exhaust pipes & window decals were bought at a local hobby shop. The MLB logo side Cubs logo, "Chicago" & "12" came from a couple of scrapbook sticker kits

Very nice car! Second place is a great finish especially for first race. I'm impressed.
