The Outlaws

Post by whodathunkit »

Here is a car that likes to sling a whole lot of dirt.

Though my Outlaw/Sprint car is an adult built version.
I thought it might be fun to share a photo or two of an Outlaw car
you don't see a whole lot of in the PWD.
(Well I can't truly say that because i'v seen a few on various web sites.)

Thank you! rpcare, kevinreirn, & sporty.

I guess what I like about the PWD is the designs are endless.
And anyone who will take the time to set down with a child to build
something together.
Well I think you all know how cool it is to pass on a craft or hobby
with someone.

just one more photo: For you Outlaw Dad's.

For some reason these wheels just don't look right
for this Outlaw/sprint car.

I had a hard time for the longest time, to find creativity in the cars I made.

But as the years went on. I was inspired by cars from other builders and from tv shows. ect.

So a few years ag9, I build allot of neat looking cars, which gave a nice break from only wanting to go fast.

Then this year and some hard work, the led tron cars turned out good and was fast enough to win 1st place in the adult class.

Yes those old blocks of wood can be saved for years and inspire us for our kids and grandkids in the years to come.

I do not see pinewood derby going anywhere soon. Unless they go to plastic kits, which I do worry is the near future, 5 to 10 years.

But I feel there will always be a class and place for wooden cars.

Thanks for all your comments! :)

Sporty, I agree alot with what you've shared. I love every aspect of the PWD, from making fast cars, helping slow poke cars, to the vintage cars that aren't necessarily built for speed (but sometimes do shock us all and win :O )

I sometimes struggle with car designs and love to look at what others are doing and realized I also needed to be sharing what I've done. I wish there was PWD all year long and not just once a year. What I like about it most is sitting down with the kids and their parents and helping them get their dream car started and teach some speed tips, and then showing up at the race and seeing the finished product. That will always be a joy!
