Thin is in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Thin is in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks great.
I like the colors !!!
If they have not raced yet, I always recommend a clear piece of tape on top and bottom of the wholes.

Nice Cars! Now those are looking nice and thin. When do they race?
My wife started a new support group... Widows of the Pinewood Derby.
Re: Thin is in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
racing 2/18.....why cover holes...is it for aerodynamic...stopping...or electronic eyes?
Re: Thin is in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Air can get into the wholes, either from under the car or on top and slow you down a tad. The air can also hit the edge / side walls in the wholes and slwo you a bit there that way also.
Might not matter, unless you run into some close racing. But most packs require the car not to be touched once the race begins, how would you know, if you might run into some close racing ?
I have seen some nail biters over the years.

My son and I one time built Max-V speeder car and it shot right though the electronic eyes with out tripping it. It was district race, center court at high noon, right under the skylights on a super bright sunny day. Closest car was 4 car lengths behind. Very rare but does happen.stugale wrote:racing 2/18.....why cover holes...is it for aerodynamic...stopping...or electronic eyes?
Race committee, which I was part of concluded that it was a problem with the equipment being used in the race and allowed him to put electical tape done the center, re-weigh the car and continue to participate.
As a result, we moved it to an afternoon into the evening event and it worked out much better. No sunlight problems, parents who worked during the day we able to make to watch their sons race, and the mall manager liked having for families in and around the stores. Win-win for everone.
PS. Cars look great!!

Sporty, would this be because of air drag off the holes cut in the car?
What type of automobile can be spelled the same forwards & backwards?

Looks like tapes are good for something.

Stugale, would you share with us how the car with the holes did in the race? How were the wheels and axles prepared? Wheels from the box or purchased from a vendor? Is that a 3 1/2 ounce tungsten canopy on the back? Where was the CM on the car? Thanks.
