I'll be the first to chime in. Nice work. What is it made of?

Ballboy it is made from the top half of the BSA kit and two dowl rods that i drilled the axel holes in.
The dowl rods were notched with the scroll saw so the car body could slide threw the dowl rods.

The dowl rods are 1- 3/4" wide the car body is not as wide but is 7 in long.
And the axels are at the same location as the BSA. block.

A top view photo of it

Just experimenting to see how far i could push the limits on building a thin car & came up with this.
To get it lighter one could cut a hole in the center.
But as you know.. that would be pushing the car to it's limits and it could snap.

However it would be fun to throw on some weight and go all out in an outlaw race.
Just to see what it might do..You never know what kind of luck you may
or may not have with these cars.
The car right now weighs in at 0.8oz with the stock BSA wheels on it.
That's 22 g's as is right now with no weights,or paint.

Thanks Ballboy, & good luck on your next cars.

Pretty thin !!!

Me and woodworx tried something like that a few years ago. We could not get them fast, to much flex and we had alignment issues. we used 1/x x 1/x4 wood and jsut glued it onto the blank. and then used the pro body tool to drill a 1/16th starter whole.

Another issue was getting the weight height right.

But certainly looking forward to how it does on a track.

Thanks Sporty, I think your right about the micro vibrations.. and getting the weight hight right.

Just done this one up to show how thin the car would have to be to pack 5oz on it.
As you can see there is not much left to the car at all.
Way to thin to win any race i'd say!

But do i get an A+ for thinking thin to win? ;)

Mark,
Looks like it might snap if you looked at it cross eyed. Do you thinking painting gave it some increased strength?
