Can you guess who they are supposed to be? If not I may need to do some more work.

The first one's definitely Lightning McQueen.

The second one, I believe, is Bumblebee.

Either way, great shaping thus far!

What technique do you use to paint? I am seduced by the idea of an airbrush, but have yet to bite the bullet on the cost (just spray paint, or craft acrylics that come in small plastic bottles...think Hobby Lobby).

Our typical process is as follows: sand to 400 grit, prime with krylon and sand to 1000-2000 grit based on time, and paint using regular rattle cans krylon 5-10 coats, with wet sanding at 1000 then 2000 finally clear coat about 5-10 times wet sanding 1000 and 2000 on the last few clear coats. I have had good results by experimenting with future floor finish and will be placing about 3-4 coats of this with some possible wet sanding after the clear coat has set or cured for about a week.

I am also interested in using an airbrush. I think you can get one cheap at hobby lobby its just the paints that will end up costing you the money. Still, I think my results have been decent on the rattle cans but I am always looking for the most cost effective way to get that extra shine !

Those are some nice looking builds... would be curious to see the underneath. How hollow are the cars?
