Lego Ninjago Sword of Fire car

Post by Noskills »

I think we all probably say "I could make a car of that" at least once a day. Well my son had a den meeting cut night for his car and we were already working on it at home so we decided to cut out a car that looks like this Lego Ninjago sword. Its the weapon of choice for the Red Ninja. Those with young kids may recognize it:

Here is a picture of the toy version. We went with a gold blade as its gold in the TV show.

All show and no go. In fact it did not even race as we made it after our derby. My first attempt at carving a car out with the dremel.

Lots of fun

yeah, I'm thinking you need to change your screen name to "Madskills." That looks great! Far better than I could do.

Hi Bill,

I used 3 coats of enamel clear coat. Actually the gloss paint, which was Testers model paint, was pretty darn glossy already. The Gold was more green that I would have liked despire vigorous shaking. Should have coated it with yellow first.

Great practice with my router bit!

Seth,
Did you build this car back in the 70's or 80's ? I'm digging them CMI wheels.

Mark,

What are CMI wheels? I just inherited a bag of PWD stuff from the previous cubmaster and these were in there. I figured they would not be used for emergency repairs, and there were 4 so I used them. I did like the retro look. There were also 3 mag style wheels which I liked even better.

Good eye, Whoda. I remember running those back in the 80's. My son left his cars here when he moved to Texas. Memories....

Well, you could race it at Mid America. That would make Sporty happy.

This guy is all show and no go. I think I will race a faster car at the mid America. This was really just so we would not arrive at the den meeting empty handed. I actually did not cut the car out, just outlined it. After the dad working the bandsaw cut a few wedges in 10 sec each he looked at me like I had three heads when I handed him the block. At first he could not understand why I was cutting off the side with the slots. Then it took him like 10 min. :o

I send him a photo of the finished product though.

Now I have extra cool Testers model paint!
