2013 Sonic Car

Post by william3954 »

First attempt at building a car with my son. He came up with the concept and the rough design, I just executed it. Used a dremel tool for the carving which went very well, kind of therapeutic. Decals were cut from a vinyl cutter and really added a lot to the project. Car weighed in at 5.0 exactly but to get it there was a struggle, we had to remove a lot of material from the inside of the Sonic driver but we did it. Car did not place in the event however, it did win for best theme car.

I continue to be amazed at the artists out there capable of doing such wonderful things with a simple pine block of wood.

Awesome!

My twins would love this car. Really well done. I wish I had your car shaping and painting skills.

Very nicely done. A car any scout would love to own,

Nice job on the Sonic Car! Looks like it was a very fun build.

That is awesome. Do you have access to a vinyl plotter, or did you commission it from a sign shop?

Edit: Just showed the pics to my six year old son. Lots of hopping up and down and pointing. "Dad, make me that one!"

Thanks for the compliments from all. Really appreciate it. The vinyl cutter used was a graftec one that a friend has. . Here is a link to it: http://www.graphteccorp.com/craftrobo/" target="_blank
