Our 2012 Cars

Post by gpraceman »

I've been remiss about posting our cars for last year. I really don't remember how they did at that race.

Mom and I raced in the Outlaw division and our boys raced in the JH/HS division. Our Outlaw division has a less restrictive rules.

Randy,
Very creative designs & unusal ideas seen on the two cars above.
If it's ok to ask.. I'd like to ask you..What is the heighth seen on Evan's car above.
And if Evan had fun with designing & building this Red Dragon car.
Look's like a really fun car design I'd like to try to build sometime.

My wife likes the two snowmen on the sled car.
What type of automobile can be spelled the same forwards & backwards?

Evan's car comes in just under our 5" height limit rule. At first he wanted the dragon to look like its feet were holding the axles, but he realized that it would be harder to make the car that way.

Evan is off in the Navy now, and they are training him to be a Seabee. He's going to put his construction skills to good use.

Let me put my skills to good use and say.. Evan Thank You for your service.

Now that would have been a really cool look!
If he would of done that with the feet holding the axles on his dragon car.

I was thinking his car height was someware around 3" was hard to tell from the photo though.
So is the 5'' height limit rule ..the standard height for all the Awanas groups ?

I've seen so many different height limit rules for the BSA races.
3'' to 3 1/2" even rules up to 6 1/2'' for the cars.
18 wheeler big rigs on height limits up to 4 1/2'' though.

Anyway Randy, I really like Evan's red dragon car you don't see many dragon looking cars like his.
And I have been looking to build one kinda like it and call it the sagon dragon.

Whoda.

No, that is the limit our Awana club set so cars will fit under the timer bridge at the finish line. It would have stifled creativity, if we would have arbitrarily set the limit lower.

How were the yellow scales made on the back of Evan's dragon car?

He took a thin strip of wood and cut those out with the scroll saw.

I looked up the race results. Ryan's car won 1st Place in speed for the JH/HS division. My car won 2nd place in the Outlaw division. I can't remember how Evan's and Mom's car fared in the design competition, but I believe they both got some type of design award.
