Lisano 2015 Cars

Post by gpraceman »

I finally finished the SCUD Launcher that I started on last season. I slimmed down the body to make it look more to scale with the BSA wheels and went from 8 wheels to 12, as that looked better to me. It raced in our November Awana race and was actually the fastest of the Outlaws. Though, it didn't win because we never rewrote the Outlaw rules to allow for longer cars. At least it will be ready for the next Mid America race.

18-1/2" long
2-3/4" wide
4-1/2" tall
20.0 ounces

Here's my wife's car. She named it "Arkey".

You'r Wife's car Arkey has a cool paint job.
Look's like she has spent some time as well painting all the wood & nail details.

I guess that we will find out at Mid America. No problems on a Micro Wizard track.

After seeing all the wheels on your Scud launcher Randy.

What about the BMW 4219 Eli With 42 wheels & 19 engines.. clearing the curve?
Take a look at this dream car design.

It is designed by a 4-year old by the name of Eli.

It ("just-might") be a fun one to try building as a derby car sometime!

That would be a cool build.

The issue with clearing the Best Track curve is how far the outermost wheels are from the ends of the car. That may be more of a concern with my scud launcher's rear, but that car should be fine as long as the nose is given some clearance.

Randy,
Do you know if the Mid-America class b big rig rules will be the same as last years rules or not?

If so last years rules for the max weight in the class b was 25.0 oz.
So you still have room to add 5 oz of more weight on the Scud launcher..
if the rules stay the same as last years for the b class.

That should help push the Scud launcher threw the Curve. ;)

Not sure on the rules. I can remove the chassis and put in more weight, if necessary.

Yeah I hear what your saying!
Trying to find a box' the right size & big enough to pack them up in is the pits.
Ended up making my own box to pack up the Plum Crazy rig in.. hope it holds up for the trip.

And that every one will enjoy watching the racing this year.

Whoda.

Whoda,

Watching them race was fun, though we didn't stand a chance against QuadDad's entries. :( He was creative in his meeting the minimum height rule, with his little antennas. Your semi is a work of art. It's better in person than seeing a photo. Well done on that!

We do need to get some more entries going in this division. The key is having kits available. I've been trying to put a bug in the ear of the Jewkes and Derby Evolution, who are here at the race, to carry some. If someone was selling kits, we might even see the adult leagues give them a go. There are certainly a lot of challenges to building and racing them, especially the traditional semis because of the two parts.

Maybe next year I will build a traditional semi.

I here you on QuadDad's entries.. And that we did not stand a chance.. his entries were very cool looking as well .

I think what I liked best about watching the race via the web lastnight..
was seeing how every one ran with different wheel set up's & spacing configurations on the rigs.

Like you I was also hoping to see more entries for the 18 wheeler and class b rigs.
Yes it would be nice if someone would offer up the kits as the BSA 18 wheeler kits are very hard to find these days.

The only 18 wheeler kits that I know of that can be found on the web.. are from Indy Products.
http://www.indyproducts.com/-Phantom-50 ... _p_12.html

Or at http://www.scoutshop.ca/Search?data=18+wheeler+kit
For their 18 wheeler Scout Truck kit.

Beta crafts used to have the 18 wheeler kits in stock.
Right now there out of them.
http://shop.betacrafts.com/

Then Randy at Maximum Velocity has the 18 wheeler wheel & axle sets on his web site for building your rigs with.
http://www.maximum-velocity.com/htm/5463.htm

You are right about there being more to building the big rig 18 wheeler trucks .
And having to use the loner axles and all 18 wheels and a pin for the trailer.
Where the class b rigs have been 19'' long frame trucks with 8 single wheels or more lately!

I myself would like to scratch build an 18 wheeler using the max-v axles and wheels.
If the rules would open up to do so for next years big rig 18 wheeler class.

Thanks for the kind words about my rig.. However yours was the work of art!
