Don't know how may of you guy's on derby talk can recall some of my past builds?
So I thought Id do something with all these past builds for a big rig 18 wheeler to race at Mid America this year!

Speedster,
has talked me into sharing some more of my build photos as he really enjoys seeing all the builds come together.
So Speedster.. do you recall the concept semi truck build from this topic that you really liked ?
http://www.derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=7796

And Darin,
do you recall that bobcat loader build i did some time back ? ( I never raced it.. so here is it's chance to be seen.)

Well guy's I thought all these builds coming together for one big rig build might be fun for the kids to see at this years Mid America race.

So here it is the lowboy trailer build iv been working on for all of these builds to come together as one.

The open ladder frame design lowboy trailer I'm working on.. is still a work in progress however.

Thank's Darin,
Been thinking of a way to keep the bobcat loaded on to the trailer that looks like its chained down.
So it looks like i'll be headed to Walmart sometime soon today to find some small chain in the craft & jewelry department.
You wouldn't happen have any good idea's on how to make small chain binders would ya!

Thank's Speedster!

Just got back from Walmart with some small scale chain to use on holding the loader to the trailer.
And speaking of the small scale chain binders and trying to make some of my own for this big rig build..

I just ran across some small scale working chain binders at kitformservices.com
Image
And some ratcheting looking chain binders at
https://zyconmodels.com/oc/index.php?ro ... uct_id=531
So they are out there if your looking for something like this for your big rig projects.. or scale models.
However ill be making my own out of some thin sheet metal and scroll saw.

Well it took some doing with the sheet metal and scroll saw and a fine #2 blade.. 1 out 3 cut outs worked! ( very small and very hard to cut out!)

You even have the drop in that side window. I would say you still are doing your Super High Quality work. It looks Great.

Well guy's ...Mid America 18 wheeler rules read that the trailer can't be longer the 13 inches over all. ( 10" is shortest trailer length ! )
The silver lowboy trailer seen in the pic's way above .. was 13 3/4 inches long!

So if the goose neck was cut down by 3/4" it would have been to short to put the hitch pin in where I needed it!
And the front of the trailer would of set flush to the back of the truck.. for me this was not going to work!
However being my first lowboy trailer build.. it was a good test bed to give me some newer ideas to try on the next one.

So to comply with there rule of 13 inch's max over all for the trailer length.
I had to start over and build a hole new lowboy trailer. ( This one is 1/16 shy of 13 inches ! )
Image
Some of the new trailer design changes black paint instead of silver, load bars, and the wooden bed on the rear and so on.
Image
Top view with out Bobcat loader!
Image
And rear view with mud flaps.
Image

The truck is 8 inches long it could of been 8 1/2" long per rules for max overall as well .. ( 7 inches is the shortest for the truck! )
Right now the truck weight is at 6.220 oz. Trailer weight with the bobcat 13.945 oz.
So still have some more work to go on this build!

Looking good!

And I can definitely sympathize with the need to rebuild a car to get it to comply with the rules so it can race.

Whoda,
The wood deck is very attractive and impressive. I also noticed the detail of the silver wheels to make them look like aluminum Budd wheels. and those chrome steel weights on the bottom of the rear mud flaps so the flaps don't swing up in the wind. Very Impressive. Would you send me 1 quart of your patience. Thank you.

Thanks guys!

And Speedster.. sure...what patiences!
I lost it when I reread the rules and my first lowboy trailer did not comply with the 13” rule!
Needless to say it got tossed on the floor and stomped on after the fact!

But if I could of scraped the paint off and put it back in the can .. I would of been happy!

Well Guy's
It's been a long haul on this build.. back on March 13th of 2012 I started the Bobcat Loader build .. and on Nov 27th of 2014 the concept semi truck build.
At the time i did the bobcat It was just for fun same for the concept semi truck build!

Speedster really liked the truck build and Darin the Bobcat build...
So i thought why not put all this together with a lowboy trailer build.. For this years Mid America 18 wheeler race.
So here is almost race ready now .. I have a few Bobcat decals to put on the truck before it's finished..

So Speedster..
I hope you'll like the new paint scheme .. the little white arrow seen before the rear wheels will have the bobcat face in it
and the bobcat name on the truck doors when I'm done.
Image

Darin here is Bobcat chained down to the lowboy.
If you look close between the wheels on the loader you'll also see a small screw holding it on also .. I had to make a metal clip to hold it to the frame of the trailer.

And my homemade chain binder:
