What group do you race with?

Post by millettbbc »

I am curious as to who we all race with.

Which group?
Which pack?
Which church?
What?

I know of BSA, Awana, Kub Kar, Shape and Race... but I Know there are more. What about you?
I would be interested to have a poll to show how many race from each group but don't want to make a poll and miss listing a group that races.

Me... I race with a church that used to have Awana but still has their track so they invite our church and other churches to race with them.

How about you?

My sons and I race with
Our BSA Pack
Our BSA District when they hold one

(Toying with the idea of proxy racing after pack days are over)

Our campground where we have a seasonal in Maine has a Nascar weekend every year they bring in some cars and we also have a PC race. We go by BSA standards.

Usually around 60 kids!

Peninsula Bible Church Palo Alto holds an annual Shape N Race Derby. Originally, it was just for CSB Stockade members (3rd-6th grade boys). Now, it's for CSB Stockade, CSB Treeclimbers (1st-2nd grade boys and their dads), and Pioneer Clubs (girls, and 4-5 year old boys).

Technically, Pioneer Clubs calls their event a Pine Car Derby, but since the CSB leaders are the ones running it and ordering the kits, we call it a Shape N Race Derby for everyone.

We race BSA Pack & BSA District.

Is there a BSA Council race or equivalent? Or higher?

Millettbbc,

I race in our annual Awana race held in Jan. and then our Regional Awana race held in Feb. The regional race is very competitive and includes several churches. I have won the leaders race there the last few years.

Our church along with another local church have a yearly adult Awana Grand prix. We have done this the last two years.

My sons race in BSA pack 513 out of Sea Grove NC, this is our 2nd year racing, I'm not aware of any other racing that goes on around here besides other BSA Packs.

I just thought it would be worth noting that CSB no longer calls its derby a Shape N Race Derby. That trademark apparently belongs to the company that has been making the kits: http://www.shapenrace.net/

CSB now calls its derby a StocKar Derby. I haven't seen the new kits though, since we haven't run a derby since the name change.
