Any close up footage of well-aligned car running?

Does anybody have links to any good video footage of a properly-aligned rail-runner going down a track? I'd love to be able to see visually what the front and rear wheels are doing, but most of the PWD footage out there is shot from too far away to get a good look.

This video is the only one that I know of that might help you out..

I dont use the pro rail rider tool seen in video any more..
I've sence been up-graded to the DW pro axle bender tool as a gift.

Thanks Whoda. Seems like there could be a lot more in the way of "quality" videos for car building and tuning. Maybe I'll try making one sometime, assuming my builds turn out decently speedy this year.

I don't have an axle bending tool. I plan to set up a wooden jig and go with the "hammer-and-screwdriver-tap" method.

I just did a quick look on you tube and there seems to be quite a few more videos than last time I looked. Would be nice to have a collection of DT approved videos as I know some are questionable.

There are a good number of videos, but not a lot that would walk you through how to create what I'd consider to be a competitive car at the, say, district level.

Vitamin K, there's lots of folks on Derby Talk that will tell you, and show you with pictures, how to create a competitive car at any level. First, your rules will control what you may do. Second, unfortunately, is how much money are you willing to spend (wheel shaver with sandpaper over the blade for "light sanding") Third, how much time are you willing to invest ( 1 hour per axle). A video of a RR going down the track is entertaining but I can't see any benefit beyond that. A "Best" track test track with a timer would be nice but not totally necessary. Sporty tuned his Mid America car on the kitchen floor. No, none of us beat Sporty, not many do, but some of the DT'ers were Hot on his tail.
Building a fast pinewood derby car is simply following all the Laws of Physics, the science of matter and its motion. It takes work and attention to detail. Is it hard work, this is a nuisance, I wish the whole thing was over, or is it a lot of Fun work? That's up to the individual.
All the answers are on DT and probably can be found using the Search function. Every expert on DT will try to help you with any question you have. Follow their advice and you are going to have a fast car. Will you take 1st place? Perhaps not, but you'll know you did your very best.

Sporty tuned his Mid America car on the kitchen floor. No, none of us beat Sporty, not many do, but some of the DT'ers were Hot on his tail.

Just playing devil's advocate, but how much faster might Sporty have been had he done his tuning on a Best Track w/timer??

I can't speak for Sporty, but when we did it once, we managed to get a few hundredths faster. In the world of competitive builders, that can be huge.

I've seen on a website somewhere.. Though I can't recall the website where I seen it at!
Someone was useing hardwood wooden blocks that were cut out with different degrees of bend angles.
Visescrip pliers were also used to clamp and bend the axle to the degree of bend cut out in the wooden block also.

I didn't have much faith in the mailing of cars. They get bounced around, maybe frozen in the belly of an airplane. Cold then warm. I am totally impressed with all the DT'ers who finished in the top 12. I truly do not know how you did it.
