Post by whodathunkit »

Test you're knowledge about B.S.A pinewood derby kits and supplies.. pertaining to the extra wheels and axles sets only!
In what kit year were these first offered in individual packaging ?

Thank you know the answer?

It was in a specific year between 1953 and 1985. What do I win?

Getting very close VK! they were offered into that year as well!

Okay Guy's I'll make this fun and give out a prize to the first person to chime in with the right year!

The winner will get a 8 fl.oz bottle of Novus 2 and a pack of Tamiya spears for polishing wheel bores!

Does that sound like a good prize ?

Yes, that sounds like a Great prize.
How about we do this.
1980, 1979, 1978. 1977, If it's in that group say yes but then we've got to get the exact year.
Where do you get the Tamiya spears? I'd like to try them.

OK Speedster,
In the years 1977-1979 there were no extra wheel or axle sets were offered in a packaging that I'm aware of!
However it would be nice to find out otherwise ( if they were also offed in a packaging in those years as well!)

So since on your 2nd chance guess you guessed the year 1980 first ( in a very strange way of going about it!)
Congrat's you are the winner of the Novus polish & Tamiya spears Speedster!!!

The only extra wheel and axle sets in packaging that i know of came out in 1980's
Some pic's of wheel and axle set's in packaging!
In the pic below it's cat .no. 1622A 5-official wheels, 5- official polished axles, and 1 sheet of numbers decals.
Image
in the next pic cat. no. 1622B just the 12 polished axles were offered in this set.

So Bill.. If you'll please send me a reminder of your address once more in an PM or Email
I'll mail out the Novus and the Tamiya spears to you!

For the Tamiya spears.. Hobby Lobby is where I'v been able to find them in 3 different sizes!
For the Novus .. on line is how i get it now or days .. I used to pick it up at my local Harley Davidson motorcycle shop but it has since closed down.

Huhn, the axles sold "back in the day" look better than what comes in the kits now. :)

I wish I had a Hobby Lobby here. Michael's is all we got locally.

Speaking of Novus #2, I have heard (but not confirmed) that the Container Store sells large bottles of it for a lot cheaper than you'll find elsewhere.

Whoda, that's very generous of you but I have plenty of bottles of Novus 2 and a Hobby Lobby store very close. Save it for your workshops. Thanks for the info on the spears.

Okay Speedster that is very nice of you!

So If you would like.. Here's what Id like to do with the prize I said I would give out.. to make good on the prize.

For having the closest guess of 1981 .. Skywalker will get the Novus polish and Tamiya spears.

And for haveing the 2nd closest guess of 1983... VK will get a pack of Tamiya spears .

Is this fair for their participation Speedster?

Skywalker and VK, please pm or email me so i can send you your prizes for your participation.
