And/or why they are all shorter than 7"
I just measured my block out and it is 6 7/8" L x 1 1/2" H x 1 3/4" W and as far as I can tell it is made of pine.

Awana blocks come from China. They are not pine. They do not have the same grain, smell, ... as pine.

Some have argued that it is lighter than BSA blocks which are pine.

I have not found that to be true. I recently did a demo with students in my class and 3 BSA blocks of different weights. Afterwards, I took the blocks and cut them at 3/8" and 5/16" think. I had them weigh the 5/26" blocks and then determine how much weight they could add.

After all that I got the best scale and measured the thinner blocks. The Awana blocks were right in the middle, weight wise, between the pine blocks. And, they are 1/8" shorter.

Also to answer the AWANA race questions, the Grand Prix as I know it has only ever been the 7” max length pine cars and I’ve been in/doing/leading AWANA for the last 35 years.

Not saying my answer is the end all be all, but if AWANA makes a big rig kit they don’t sell it in their store.
Looks like your off to a good start with your rig.. it's a good thing that you can move your wheel location out as needed as well.

I cant get over how the truck shape above .. is almost to the liking of my concept rig from a side view.

the only thing that's different is the fender shape and duel back wheels and so on for the wing.
However It's the front bumper shape on the truck that will have to change so it can clear the rail's of a track.

Any how hope the big rig kit info and pic's help you out in some way with your rig.

Or, keep the front bumper shape and notch it for the rails.

I like the job you have done so far with your rig it looks really good to me!

You know how Eagle and Speedster are Joking around with me when it comes to speed? ( well don't worry there good guys!)
Well I hope you don't mind me doing this.. just to show how fast i can be in the art dept and in designing patterns.
I took the liberty of seeing if i could draw out a pattern of the rig you are wanting to build .. i started drawing the pattern out at 9:30 my time it's mow 10:00.

Here is the pattern that i came up with .. Hope you like it and fell fee to use it if it can be of some help to you.

And keep on building that rig can't wait to see your work when it is done.

Who’d a did you get some Big Rig design software. I know it’s a small pic, but it doesn’t look hand drawn.

Alrighty, ladies and gents. Hope you are well in quarantine. This has given me pause and plenty of extra time to spend on the details. Thoughts appreciated.

Nice!
I hope you consider racing it at http://www.TheWestCoastGrandPrix.com
If you coat the outside with thin CA glue, block sand, repeat as needed to get surface you want you would be able to cut more out of the interior if you want a faster rig.
On the rear fenders you could thin CA the inner wheel well and shape them a lite more if you'd like.
Looking forward to what you do next.

Do you have a link for CA Glue? Like a make and model you like? Amazon or a local store?

Bob Smith Industries Super Thin.
I also use their Gap Filling Medium for gluing things together.
