Pinewood Derby creations at BoysLife.org

Post by Nitro Dan »

I ran across this link of about thirty pictures of Pinewood Derby cars that had been sent to Boys Life magazine:

http://boyslife.org/hobbies-projects/fu ... creations/

I particularly liked the fried eggs "sunny side up" car. If you click on the link to see more Pinewood Derby Photos, it will show you another hundred or so submissions that they have received as well.

So....what's the deal with #21. Is that just a kooky design, or is it supposed to be something ?

LOVE the fried egg car!

Is that an old idea or original?

I don't think I've seen it before...

and even if it was a wrap, that watermelon slice was pretty realistic looking.

Anyone else notice that #8 had "H" wheels on it? Just look at the discoloration across the threads.

I couldn't figure out that one either. It's probably like my puzzle-box car, where it makes a lot more sense once someone explains it to you.

#35 is one of the best canoe cars I've seen. They hollowed out the inside of the canoe very nicely. And it looks like the Zamboni (#7) has a rather interesting wheel configuration. I'd love to get a better look at that one.

I think that's a wireless remote camera in Car #21. The center portion appears to be removable so you can take the camera out when you want to. It's the only thing I can think of that explains the design, and why they didn't bother painting the car.
