Need a patch maker

Post by nosam116 »

I'm looking for comments/recommendations of patch makers for our district Pinewood Derby patch?
Thanks in advance.

You can try this: http://www.commandered.com/

They can make patches from your artwork or use their samples.

We were pleased with our past orders.

Nosam116,

I am assuming that you are looking for a custom patch here. We have had very good results with Little Awards:
http://littleawards.com/littleawards/index.htm
for past Custom Pinewood Patches and will be using them again this year for both our Pack and (I hope :pray: ) our District Races.

I can e-mail you a picture of the graphic that we used for last year's Pinewood Derby if you like; just PM me. Just put a black border around it and you will have what we received from them. We did special patches for 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place and the rest were participant patches.

Those are two options, has anyone got any others?

I'm looking for a good deal on patches for our district race in May. Commander Ed's seems a bit expensive and I'm not sure that I like the color printed patches (as opposed to embroidered) from Little Awards.

I have been using a company in Hong Kong for a bit over a year now. They offer excellent service, excellent quality and are very easy to deal with.

I email a patch design, they quote a price. Once we agree to terms they produce a sample, scan it and send it back by email. Delivery is a week or so by courier.

We produce about 20 different patchs per year with quantities varying from 50 to 600. Never had a problem.

Contact jerry by email at jerry@kunhongemblem.com. By way of introduction tell him Victor from Rangers referred you.

Victor.

I just ordered our patches for the district race last week from http://www.stadriemblems.com/. Fortunately, they say they are able to get them to me in time for the race.

Here's the design I came up with. If anyone would like the Adobe PSD file, let me know.

Does anyone know of a company selling "off the shelf" PWD patches for our race in 3 weeks?? It looks like the standard delivery for custom "standard" patches are 2-3 weeks, cutting it a little close.

The scout store sells a participation patch.

BSA has cracked down on many companies selling Pinewood Derby patches. You would have to find one that is licensed if you want it to say "Pinewood Derby". You can find stock patches from other companies, but they will say something different. Of course, if you find a licensed manufacturer, you will pay significantly more (to make up for the licensing fees they have to pay to BSA).

Here's what our 2008 district patch looks like, if anyone is interested.

Due to BSA licensing requirements, it needed to say BSA on it or have a fleur-de-lis. We replaced the Wolf's head with the fleur-de-lis on the flag.

Moritz embroidery does a lot of the patches for the Chesapeake District of the Baltimore Area Council. They were very quick (2 weeks) when I thought we were having a District Derby last year. Beautiful work. Couldn't be happier with them.

We have used these patches. They are very well made and the boys loved them.

2006 = funny car
2007 = rail
2008 = hot rod
