Lester Racing Website

Post by andylester »

Greetings all,

I am sure many of you thought that me getting my website done was never going to happen. Well, you are partially right! My website guy just left for Woodbadge training, so he still does not have my main site done. So, I decided to make my own. It is not that fancy or have lots of bells and whistles, but it does work.

SO, here is a link to my website:

http://lesterracing.weebly.com/index.html" target="_blank

Stop by and check it out. There should be something of interest to you there. For all you folks with strict BSA rules, there are some bodies on there with slots that can help you guys out. ;)

The links are not finalized yet and there are some other things missing, but 95% is done and able to be shopped on. ;D

Thanks and Happy Racing.

Andy Lester

Some pretty cool stuff. Laser cutting really opens up some possibilities!

Interesting! Perhaps I missed it, but what type of wood is being used - anything special?

All 300 series cars are in pine. The other series of cars are in poplar, but are available in pine as well. The poplar cuts very well and is very strong when cut as thin as we do. We have to cut the pine cars 5/16" thick to come close to the 1/4" poplar in strength without getting too heavy.

nice site, already strolled around.

What are the dry weight of the bodies ? exstended axle distances ?

These are two questions that come to mind.

The axle distances on the extended wheel base cars are set in from the ends at 5/8".

The weights vary anywhere from 10 to 15 grams for the long wheel base cars. The short pines come in around 11 to 17 grams. Eventually I will get the weights on the website, but for the most part THEY ARE LIGHT!

We have made several of our extreme custom cars that come in at 5 to 6 grams before sanding.

I really like the designs. I do have a concern. I am looking at the 100 series, cube weight, Mallet. We can run one wheel up. From what I can on the site all holes are drilled in the same position, and it says I can drill the raised hole. From the picture it does not look to be enough wood above the existing hole to drill a higher hole.

The body you see pictured shows the holes a little high in the body. We have since switched jigs that allow the hole to be more centered in the wood. This will allow you to raise the 4th wheel better than on the one pictured. You should only have to take it up a little more than 1/32" to get it to work. Not sure if you are rail riding or not, but when you cant your steer wheel, you will also pick up some lift on the 4th wheel.

If you want, I can drill your hole raised and save you the hassle. Let me know which one. Driver side or passenger side.
Thanks,

Can a customer request no holes? Perhaps of more interest, can a customer get a discount if the block is ordered without axle holes?

Sure I can do them with no holes. That is easy!
