unfortunately the odds are against me. The vast majority of things patented never make it to market. I am now being innundated by junk mail for "give us money and we'll market your invention" companies.Stan Pope wrote:That is so cool! Logistics Management Specialist. I work for the Federal Government, more specifically the Army.
Re: What is your “real job”?
My big paycheck comes from my family - wife of 25+ years and two boys, currently in Bear and Web II.
I get my financial paycheck from a large consumer products company (I would be willing to be that most of you have at least one of our products in your house) where I work as a systems architect in the database / business intelligence area. In some of my spare time I manage a discussion board similar to this one that focuses on one particular company's business intelligence (aka reporting) solution. We're about to celebrate our 10th anniversary on that board, and it's still going strong. I also enjoy photography and travelling. One of my favorite states to visit is Utah, specifically the area around Moab and further south along the Colorado River.
I got my basic experience in wood working at an early age from my Dad who makes wonderful furniture. My very first tool was a hammer that I bought with my own allowance money when I was ten, and I still have the same hammer. Over the years I have gradually acquired various power tools. Who knew that was all in preparation to make Pinewood Derby cars? I like being able to create things, and right now with everything else going on a Derby car seems to be just about the right size project. I can start and finish one within a set time frame, without leaving an unfinished project sitting around the garage.
When my oldest boy started Cub Scouts I became the assistant den leader for the Tigers, and I still assist on den meetings when needed. I am a full-time den leader for my younger boy, and for the last two years have been Cub Master for our pack. I have also hosted derby workshops for our pack and for boys from at least two other packs. I don't know how I made it this far without finding this resource. Now that I've found it, I suspect I might be here for a while.

Re: What is your “real job”?
I push little plastic keys and click mouse buttons all day long. I also talk on the phone a lot...often to a computer on the other end. Somehow I get paid for that.
