How the Awana Grand Prix got it's start

Post by gpraceman »

For those Awana folks out there, ever wonder just how the Awana Grand Prix got it's start? Some of us know the story about how the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby got it's start and that the Awana Grand Prix somehow grew out of that, but here's an interesting article about the race's history with Awana.

For one, I am glad that the original founders of the race in Awana pressed ahead despite some thinking it would never get off the ground. God has used this race to get His Word out and bring people to Christ :!:

How many other opportunities are there in Awana to get unsaved parents or other relatives in to hear the Gospel message? Very few. So, it is a very important outreach for Awana (and other church based organizations with similar programs). It is a shame if a club is unable or unwilling to put on a race, since they lose such a great opportunity. Not to mention, the fun that would be had by the kids.
