An interesting idea. Of course, this would not comply with most race rules, except an Outlaw race. This particular car would need to run on an edge guided track.

That is a fascinating concept. Thanks for posting it. I agree that most organizations wouldn't permit such a car, but it could potentially be an option in the future. I don't see much difference in 3D printing with ABS (or similar plastic) and using a CNC machine to cut a piece of pine or bass wood. In both methods all of the cutting is done completely hands-off by a machine. Using a CAD program is certainly within the ability of some 7-11 year-olds, though the technology to take design to model is still somewhat cost prohibitive.
