Microwizard Timer !! The kit, I built, works great !! pic's
I just got my P3LCD timer today. Kit. I am in the process of putting it together.
This is a pretty easy kit and reads times for the lane and naturally 1st 2nd 3rd. For a three lane track.
A pretty good deal and value by microwizard.
I am still in the progress of assembly and will post more. But for now I have pictures and some info to share with all of you.
First the kit comes with brackets and board / plastic board & lexan, power supply and the LCD and circuit boards and wiring are pretty easy to attach.
You have to cut out and use the included diagram for ensuring the board lcd and everything is going to fit together for your track. It's important to provide the proper width and size of the track and lanes per there website when ordering.
template-
The templete is used for a few things. so keep that in mind.
Wiring and drilling wholes for the tubing:
I used some wire to pull through the the wires and connectors that needed to be inserted through the tubing. Micro switch and power supply connector.

You also have to place one of the wires ( ground) to the top frame tube.
You need the template for drilling the tubes, plastic that holds the electronics and the clear plexiglass.
back side of timer-
Front side with protective coating still on yet.
Getting closer. In a day or two I should have it up and running.

Re: Microwizard Timer !!!!
i have some more pictures and i also tested and its working fine. But I have got to mount it to the track, thats the last thing to do and the micro switch.
I am pretty impressed with how easy it is and I'm excited to get it mounted and get some times on my cars.

Agreed. Several years ago I served one season as a Trackmaster for a local Pack. Prior to having a timer, this unit had Boy Scouts calling the finish line - while parents stood over their shoulders and "coached" them as to how they should call the close races. So after a lot of shopping I bought and assembled one of these kits and gave it to that Pack, and it made all the difference in terms of eliminating hard feelings and making the event more pleasant for all concerned. It also cut the total event time by more than half (no more visual ties that needed to be rerun).sporty wrote:A pretty good deal and value by microwizard.
Any unit that doesn't have a timer already would be well served by considering the Microwizard kit.

lol, old bed sheet for the stop section. It's a ugly track too, but it works.
But I sure tell you, you can not beat this awesome timer from microwizard (p3lcd).

That's a sweet looking timer!! I had ordered a kit last year and never used it. Since I'm building a test track I started looking for it. I couldn't even remember if I ordered the board assembled or not! I just found it today and it is the K1CA which is assembled. My test track is only one lane but it supports 4 lanes if needed.
The only thing I'm not sure on is it has a RJ11 connector for the starting switch with 4 wires connected but I think it only uses two of them based on their diagram on the site. Not sure why 4 were connected to it though. And I have to get the DB9 connector for it as well as build the case for it. I'll start on it tomorrow!
Thanks

Heads up for anybody in the market for a timer. MicroWizard has a summer discount of 10%. I just picked up a K1CS (K1 Cheap kit with computer serial interface all data options) and a Remote Start switch and cable for under $70 - shipped.
The local Big Box hardware stores have the 1 x 1 aluminum tube, acrylic panels, and hardware to complete the project for a reasonable amount.

That's great info, JJJJJ! I found the details here. The discount expires October 31 and seems to apply only to Microwizard manufactured products (e.g., does not seem to apply to 3rd party software).*5 J's* wrote:MicroWizard has a summer discount of 10%.
