Need replacement switch for RaceMaster timer
Need replacement switch for RaceMaster timer
We have a four lane Grand Prix track with a RaceMaster timer, but our starter switcher thingy (sorry for the technical lingo) is not working. The small piece of metal that triggers the timer when the cars are sent down the track does not start the timer.
Any suggestions for a replacement part? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This looks to be the correct part, Cherry E53-00R, but it looks to be obsolete. Not sure what a suitable replacement would be.

@Anmarie - When you move the whisker, do you hear a click?
Check the wires connected to the switch and make sure that they are firmly connected.
Check also wires going into the back end of the plug on the end of that cable. See if you have a loose or broken wire there.

If the problem is a bad switch, then this part may be a suitable replacement, Omron D2MC01H. Though, it may be obsolete too.

MicroWizard Timers has an RS Remote Start Switch and 50' of cable for $15.00. My switch closely resembles the one shown by Vitamin K. They state if you are ordering this switch for a previously purchased timer give them a call and tell them exactly what you have. You will need to have MicroWizard build the end with the fitting that plugs into your timer.

I'm not sure that MicroWizard will want to essentially repair some other manufacturer's timer.Speedster wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 9:27 pm MicroWizard Timers has an RS Remote Start Switch and 50' of cable for $15.00. Anyways, it is a bit more complicated that just dealing with a start switch. For a RaceMaster timer, the cable going to the start line services more than just the start switch. The power jack and a timer reset button are on the same bracket as the start switch.
Unfortunately, the owner of that company passed away and no one took over. The better option in the long run may be to purchase another brand of timer.

That looks like the best option yet. Not sure if mounting hole positions will line up with the bracket, but that is a minor issue.
