2008 Cubmobile

Post by sporty »

Here is some ruff photos of our current 2008 Cubmobile.

We did use the basic shape and design the past few years.

I did make some minor changes to the seat and seat supports and we went to axles, instead of bolts.

I will get some more pic's when it's nice enough to get it outside and get some better pictures.

We used alot of chrome vinyl ! different colors.

Let me know what ya all think. I would build fancier and different. If the rules were different.

Sporty,

If it's a sunny day, you'll literally blind the competition! 8)

Cool decoration job.

Very cool!

Love that paint job!

You could call it Rainbow Warrior or something similar (or Woodstock?)...

it is really psychadelic looking :)

Ahh, I saw the word vinyl...I just didn't read it...

You have a favorite source? Just a few quick searches I did, showed the stuff at $5/sqft. Yikes.

I do some Halloween stuff as well, and would like to look into faster results verus painting. We need some 'gloss' this year.

A few more pic's of the 2008 Cubmobile !

We got in some practice and test runs also.

We would have had alot more pics, however the Girlfriend had the camera on the wrong setting. lol

The cones were placed 1/2 the width of the road and slowly reduced to 3 1/2 feet.

Naturally this got harder for them, but we got in about 10 runs for each kid.

There will be more test and practice runs going on right up until the race.

Thats one thing I can't tell others enough about. Practice and test runs will help the kids learn how to drive the Cubmobile. It also gives dad a chance to check and see where isssue's might be at.

I think I need to give them a longer steering rope, I also found the front end to loose, which gave them a harder time in steering the Cubmobile.

After we got home, I found the rear alignment was .25 off, The homemade triangulation bar helped find that and used to correct this.

Dad also had to talk with the kids about the arm staying inside the car seat sides and sitting in the center of the cubmobile.

We also talked about and worked on feet placement.

I hope you enjoyed the extra photos.

The kids did alot better with the steering. No cones hit or ran over this time. We are gonna try and get a few more practice runs in before the race.
