Thought I would post if, anyone still has a Cubmobile Race in there area yet this year ? or if they are all done this year and will have them again next year.
As some of you know, A few months back.
I had contacted the national office in Texas. This was in regards to better safety and rules for the Cubmobile race.
Some of the people that I had spoken with who have children in the Cubmobile race.
We had talked about a more consistent and more national set of rules.
We had hopes that this would occur, so that it may lead to regional races. Something more along the lines of how the Pine Wood Derby races our done.
When I spoke with MR. Woodard in the Texas office, A update to the book in this area, had not been done in a long time.
He also, did not know when they would be up dating the book.
I had taken the time to send some better images and pictures and also some better information on the Cubmobile race.
They also in return had sent me what was in the book currently.
I was pleased to find some rules and information, That even with hearing or observing some Cubmobile races this year.
That even their basic rules were not being followed.
So, My hopes are two parted.
One is awareness of the current rules and asking that others like me will take interest in sending information and thoughts in regards to the Cubmobile races to texas.
In support of a updated book and information.
I know of two classes of Cubmobiles, the stock class (size, width, parts used are the same) relatively speaking)
the open class, has a body on the Cubmobile and has a longer or wider frame and may even have steering. Building materials are more wider open and not specific on size and type of material used.
More information will follow, I will await to see replys and comments.
Anyone else having Fall races?
Different topic, but we are seeking sponsorship (not here) to begin our Soapbox Derby car. June will be here quick enough. Between sports, Scouts, Pinewood Derby, Cubmobile, and a Soapbox car, we'll be pretty busy. It's all fun though.
Sporty, did you have any pictures of your son's SBD car?
I have not heard or scene posted dates for races.
e-mail me and Ill send ya a pic. I dont have any of websites to upload to here.
I am hoping that those who will be planning to have a Cubmobile race this coming year (2007).
So I hope you Will post information, race date, registration and rules.
I would enjoy very much to here what state and town your pack is in also.
I am really hoping that alot more packs will hold a Cubmobile race in 2007.
Here our a few-
Cubmaster Pack 215 Anderson, SC
Pack 41 (Sometime in 2007)
http://www.etowah-bsa.org (Sometime this summer or fall 2007)
Pack365 (SUMMER OR fALL 2007)
Some info was missing, State,Town.
On a side note, Sporty, we now have two sponsors that pretty much took care of most of our needs for our Soapbox Derby car. We are really looking forward to that race. Should be very challenging. We don't expect to win (but you never know), but we should at least learn a lot for next year.
I am very glad to hear that, Especially on the Soapbox Derby.
My son plans on racing again this year also.
Alot of older Soapbox derby cars would require much work to get up to date. Meaning if it's within 5 years old.
As for what I think you were asking, 1 car per racer, per race.
My son will be using his 2006 model for 2007 season. I will have to make some adjustments though. New rules for 2007. Nothing to major though.
