BSA blast car ???

Post by sporty »

Does anyone have any pictures of one they have built and any tips and comments and thoughts ?

I recently ordered two kits for my kids. Rumor has it, one of the local packs is going to have a race in a few weeks. Im trying to get info yet from them, In regards if its just a local pack only, Or if other box scouts packs in the area can come and run.

In the meantime. I was curious if anyone has built one, thoughts and comment and pictures.

I have seen pictures elsewhere and links and vendors selling items. Not looking for that kind of info. More from someone who built one and so forth.

 We've a few BlastCar posts over in the General Topics area. I wonder if DT might be ready to have a separate Blast Car forum over in the Other Derbies forum? :eager:

Sporty,

The Santa Fe Trail Counil in my area just held a kid's discovery day.
Where they had Pinewood derby cars & Blast cars races running for the kids & Scouts,
from all over the area.
The better turn out of kid's & Scouts came to race PWD cars..
But there was one Scout from pack 199 in Elkhart KS that showed up for Blast car.

I happen to work side by side with the Dist chairsman for the Santa Fe Trail Counil at work.
And told him I happend to bring along some vintage monogram co2 cars that I had planed to share with the kids

Well as it happend he had to have some one to race with.. And I just for fun.

(However he was the true winner of the blast car race!)

The crowd enjoyed watching the co2 powered cars run..
the balsa wood monogram co2 cars were faster to the finsh.
But his Blast car was fast also and he enjoyed seeing the vintage co2 cars run also.

Photo of his Blastcar:

cars were ran on carpet:

Heres the turn out of kid's and Scouts for the pinewood derby race.

FS, Good catch DT needs a Blastcar forum. ;)
