We have a Dell laptop that we run the GPRM and FX sound effects softwares...
Instead of using a projector we are considering getting a Bigger computer monitor or maybe a TV monitor to connect to the laptop computer to display the results (while still veiwing results on the laptop)
1- What would be required of a computer or T.V monitor to be compatable with our laptop?
2- Also what would be the requirement for the laptop to be compatable with the monitors?
3- Also, Is it possible to run the GPRM and the FX softwares at the same time veiwing both on the laptop , but the external additional monitor only veiwing the GPRM software results? (so the audience does'nt see the fx software on the external additional monitor ) Or would this have to be done with 2 computers ?

You can plug in another monitor to the video port on your lap top and then configure Windows for dual monitors. Then you can have your desk top on your lap top monitor and the GPRM on the secondary monitor. We did this at our PWD.

When running a dual monitor setup, you can drag the GPRM screen over to the secondary monitor and leave RaceFX on the laptop screen. You cannot, however, keep both on the laptop screen and just one of them on the secondary monitor.
You can either run both on both monitors or one program per monitor.

Start/ControlPanel/Display/Settings then click on the big '1' or '2' lets you configure double monitors to be separate or together.
You can't use a TV without a scan converter. TV standards and computer standards don't match up. A projector is generally a better choice since it connects automatically (has the same standard as the computer) and makes a bigger picture. Doesn't work outside very though if that's an issue.

Thanks guys for the replies...
Yea, the indoor outdoor will be done at times...Also another issue seems to be the price difference ...
Projectors look to be very exspensive...
What are some good brands or best bang for the buck when seeking a projector that is compatible with a computer...

The best bet is to borrow. Ask around, you'll be surprised at how many of the parents have one or have access to one thru work.

A place to monitor for deals on projectors is www.fatwallet.com. Dell from time to time run some pretty good deal. But as SuperDave indicated probably best to just borrow one unless you have some other use for the projector.
I have one and we sometimes in the summer will project it onto the side of the house and have the neighborhood kids over, pop some popcorn and have an outdoor movie. It is a lot of fun.
