Microwizard Crate Build

Post by mclewis_13 »

Just finished putting together the crate as designed for the 4 lane microwizard track. Boys were eager to help and I guess I needed to have my patience stretched. Next we get to put together the track for the first time.

Y'all did a good job! :bigups:

I added casters to my crate to make it easier to move around. It is amazing how heavy all that aluminum is. Seems to get heavier every year. :whew:

BTW, to get the images to show up, you can copy the BBCode from imgur and paste it right into your post.

Love the build.
Would love some dimensions and/or plans.
A material list and/or links to your materials (especially the hardware) would be great!

Randy,
Is yours a Best Track?
Any pics and/or plans?

Looks like he used the Micro Wizard plans, which are available on their website.

I used those same plans for my Freedom track. I did make it slightly wider (about 1/4") to make it easier to put loops of rope over the sections for getting them in and out of the crate.

Best Track has a similar crate that they have plans for on their website. Though, it is a much bigger crate due to the taller extrusion and machine bent curve.

So. I realized as I was putting the track away (by the way is there a video showing you how to LEGO master builder it in?) where in the world am I going to store the timer/wiring etc? Is there another storage crate build with plans? This seems as if not more important than the track storage. Would love some insight from you guys on it.

I recommend storing the timer separate from the track, including the start switch and all timer related cables. Then it is easier to grab just the timer to test out with your computer, prior to the race, without having to get the track out of storage. I have a blow molded case that I store mine in. Some timer manufacturers carry them. You can also check Amazon. Just make sure that the interior dimensions will fit everything, of course.

My 2 timers are stored in our house where the heat and humidity is close to the same year around. Only I can get to them. They are not in a case. Knowing where they are helps me sleep better.
