I'm wanting to get banners, race team posters, etc for our derby race to dress up the event, hand out posters to the kids, etc. I've emailed a few race teams asking if the could send us things. I even said that if you have an ole pair of race gloves, broken wrench, etc, it would probably be exciting for the boys to received.
Who has had luck getting anything from race teams for your events? If so, what have you been able to get?

I had GREAT luck with the local Police Dept 'arresting' the fastest racer until he thanked his parents and divulged some speed secrets.
Pawn shops and auctions have been gold mines for ol' rusty tools. We use a Big Wrench for the traveling trophy... came out of an ol' rusty tool box at an auction for $5.

That's a good idea. The activities/marketing guy for our police department is pretty busy, but he would be a good one to be the MC and arrest someone. LOL
