Best Location to Hold a Race?

We had planned to hold our local race in our church gym, however there may be a scheduling conflict. This has raised the possibility of moving the race to our large meeting/conference room which can seat apx. 250 people, so is plenty large for our track, racers & spectators.

The final decision hasn't been made yet, but will need to be made fairly soon - which would be the best place for a pinewood race?

If you had the choice of a large room or a gym in which to hold your race - which would you pick and why?

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated!

We conduct our races in the grade school gym. The tiered seating offers a better view for more people compared to single level seating.
