New Graphite Comparisons
New Graphite Comparisons
Hi,
Does anybody have any experience having used Pinewood Extremes SuperFast or Extreme graphite.
The only test data I can find is that on the PWD Extremes web site. While it looks good I take it with a grain of salt and caution because of the source.
Anybody out there use it? What were your results. (Times down track, length of track, type of track, condition etc)
Any comparison of it (other than the already published from his site) with Tube 0 Lube, Hob E Lube, NyOil II, Hodges etc. you can give me would be helpful in deciding if I will buy.
His results look great. If we could get the 0.14 bump his test data shows over Hob E Lube, we would be EXTREMEly happy . It looks almost too good to be true.
I am not from Missouri as PWD Extreme is, but I am taking there motto. Show Me!
Craig

We'll let you know on March 26th!
Re: New Graphite Comparisons
So did you get the Super Fast or the Extreme?
I may have to go out on a limb and just buy some my self. Our district race is not until May though so I have some time.
Be sure you let me know how it comes out!

Stock # 30-8030
PE's Extreme Graphite/Moly Lube .25oz
For sure the most I ever paid for a dry lubricant but our rules specify graphite only.

Re: New Graphite Comparisons
My son and I tested PE's Extreme Graphite/Moly Lube today at our pack race and had very fast consistant times. We had 18 heats on a new wooden track with near perfect conditions and experienced very minute fluctuations in times. I have used tube o lube and hob e lube in the past and liked the results of both but wanted to try something that might give us that extra 1/4 inch at the finish. I am not sure how much the lube made a difference compared to all the other advice I have read from this site and utilized. Everything about our car this year was a little better in addition to the graphite. I think the true test of the graphite was how consistant our car placed each heat. We get to go to the district races and plan to use PE's Extreme Graphite again.

Re: New Graphite Comparisons
Anyone know the difference between extreeme's and hob-e-lube. More Moly? What about running pure Moly?
Re: New Graphite Comparisons
My son used this lube this year. He took 1st in Pack, lost only 1 one heat.
Can't give times because pack uses a win, place, show timer. I can tell you that it gave @10% increase over Hob-e-lube on spin times when we tested it.

Has anyone tried WS2? Our rules dictate dry lube.

Re: New Graphite Comparisons
We used PE's Extreme this year too, and won. But won last year also with
Hobby Lube. EXTREME is extremely fine, more powdery, almost "fluffy" if you will. We like it better, doesn't seem to need any break-in, and you get a handy little tool to pour it into the bore. We had graphite in the past that seems to have to be ground-up in the bore.

Re: New Graphite Comparisons
What is the micron size of graphite, and moly?
Again, has anyone tried WS2???

Re: New Graphite Comparisons
I noticed that too. Gone is the crunching when you first spin the wheel after applying the graphite. I wonder if that means you won't run a slower heat first. We used to apply lube and then run a couple of heats on our home track before packing up for the derby. I think now we're going to skip the home heats and apply the new graphite right before the race.

I experimented with MS2 and WS2 two years ago, and neither worked as well as Hob-E-Lube.Again, has anyone tried WS2???

Different micron, more moly. Would pure moly be the best or does that have a negative impact?
