Great job! I like the car stands too. As I said before, those are some pimped pwd rides!

Re: Blue and Gold Awards Today
The stand was a den project. The parts all came from a craft store all the boys had to do was sand, stain and assemble. The double stand shown is made of a 7" x 9" plaque ($.99) 2 doll house wooden flower pots ($.49 & $.79) and 2 oval plaques ($.39 each), total $3.05 plus tax. The name plaques are metallic label maker tape and the gold is pinstripping. Single stands were about a $1.97. I thought that was a lotta bang for the buck. All the boys loved the results.

Great idea and info. I'll look around my area for these items and see if my boys want to do something like that.Sssnake wrote:The stand was a den project. We made car stands as den project. We did that well enough.
In the past we only gave ribbons for design awards, I didn't like that. I put together two dozen stands for about 1.05 of material each. Next year, it will go to the Webelos dens for projects.
I am interested in the metalic lable maker though.

Re: Blue and Gold Awards Today
Good job for the Webelos! As a Webelos Den Leader (way back when) I enlisted my den members to "manufacture" plaques that would go to each boy in the pack who managed to bring a car. (Then after the competition is over, give each boy an introduction worthy of "Michael Jorden" when calling him to come up and get his plaque!)
Here's a pic I just snapped from my family room wall:

Nice piece of work Stan. Did the boys stencil the letterring?

Could have. These were silkscreened in my kitchen. Best to have few hands, since miscues easy and cause plaques to recycle through painting.Sssnake wrote:Nice piece of work Stan. Did the boys stencil the letterring?

The full manufacturing description and jigs for all steps are shown on my website. http://members.aol.com/standcmr/plaque.html

Sssnake, nice cars. Something to shoot for next year. Although if made such pretty cars I am not sure my son would want to race them and dirty them up.
Stan, looks to me like your 1989 car has enough wood for 2 cars. Hope you have saved a few trees and cut back on the pine!!!!!

Did you notice the wheels on the flex wedge in the picture? Guess where it's going this month.
