Here is our car ready for the race this Sunday with thanks to all of you for your advice!
The Reese's cup is carved out of the wood from our block. We used the dremel on the sides to make it look like a wrapper. I used a computer program to trace the Reese's logo and I cut the image with my scrapbook Cricut cutter. Hope you like it!

Her times ranged from 3.003 to 3.0270. I can't express how thankful I am for your guidance and advice. You guys ROCK!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Awana Mom Team !!!!!! It sounds like the cars a Rocket. With those consistent times your daughter might want to teach Staging techniques. I should probably be her 1st student. Job Well Done.

No no Speedster...you are too generous with that compliment! The only lessons would be taught by you!

My 8 yr. old didn't actually have to stage her own car. The track was really high and the kids couldn't reach it so an adult was the stager. He postitioned each car straight and carefully looked at the cars. He did a great job and he did the same thing for each car. I never really saw him making sure the wheels were pulled out on the cars. He didn't touch the wheels on anyone's car. My daughter did do a great job of not playing with the wheels and holding it properly when she picked up the car and returned it to the pit. Best part was when she told me later that evening before bed "I prayed that I wouldn't be braggy and greedy if I had my name called for the finals." Love that pure heart moment!

I'm glad the guy did a nice job staging the car but I think "staging" is a big part of the children's fun. Was the track elevated above the floor or was the Start end simply 4 feet above the floor and the rest of the track on the floor? All that is needed at the start end is a step that will accommodate even the shortest child. After check-in, no one other than the owner should ever touch the car. We've had a few cars dropped over the years but it has always been dropped by the scout. I realize this is my opinion only but we always do what the Boss says. Yep... I'm the Boss.
Cheers,
Bill

The track would've been accessible if there were a step for the kids. Maybe they do it to save time? I totally see your very valid point about no other hands touching the cars.

Great car and great times. That's really fast for a wooden track!
