Nice topic! A little surprised you didn't mention any of the runout testing tools that can be either built or purchased.

Thanks - glad you enjoyed it. I did mention tools in passing ("Barring an expensive test jig"), but I wanted to focus the article on spin testing, which is what the vast majority of people do.Nice topic! A little surprised you didn't mention any of the runout testing tools that can be either built or purchased.
That is true, but I left them out as their kit is not really an 18-Wheeler (just has 10 wheels).Don’t forget you can still get big rig kits from Indy Products as well!

The Phantom 500 truck is an 18 wheeler. It's the Dual wheels that make it an 18 wheeler. You have probably all seen the Class 8 trucks with REALLY WIDE tires so there are a lot more trucks on the road that are using only 10 tires today. That Big Wide tire can easily be made by cutting a wheel, gluing it to a standard wheel, Bondo the crack to make it look like one wheel, and paint the running surface black. You have a modern day Class 8 Tractor Trailer. Nails can be purchased from Maximum Velocity.
Orrrrrr, just use 10 stock wheels and you still have a modern day Tractor Trailer.
