Okay I just have to post this did they race Mini Cooper Pinewood Derby Cars back in the day. Back in the day I used to paint them with a brush and testers silver model paint.
The sharpie pen just makes quick work of it.

(Rotational Inertia ) It takes a certain amount of energy to start a pinewood derby car rolling down the track.. heavier objects need more energy then lighter objects to get rolling. By lifting one wheel it also reduces the rotational inertia and small amount.. so less energy ...
