Looking for cardboard practice track

Post by scimaestro »

I work for the Los Angeles Unified School District, and am implementing a science unit of study where pine wood cars are used to explore the laws of physics. Currently this is being tested in 20 middle schools, but will go into every 8th grade classroom next year if successful.

When I began developing the unit early this year, I saw a cardboard practice track on-line which sold for about $75. This fit my needs, for I only need the track to last the length of the unit, and getting a standard track for each classroom is too expensive. We will have standard tracks at the District-wide Derby late in the year, but for now I need something inexpensive for the classroom, and I haven't been able to find the 3-lane cardboard track again!

I have seen several plastic practice tracks, but they are single lane, and I need a multi lane practice track. Can anyone help me?

Please email at scimaestro@aol.com if you have any information.

I am curious about test tracks as well.

Is a cardboard test track any good, if you are going to run on an aluminum track?

I guess you can get some idea if the car is stable, but I am not sure.
